Ethiopian Prime Minister reshuffles ministers

The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Dr. Abiy Ahmed today reshuffled three ministers, state media reported.

Getahun Mekuria (Dr.Eng.) is appointed to serve as Minister of Education, while Melaku Alebel will be serving as Minister of Trade and Industry of Ethiopia. And Abraham Belay (PhD) has become Innovation and Technology Minister, according to the state broadcaster –ETV.

Getahun Mekuria (Dr.Eng.) has been serving as Ministry of Innovation and Technology is also currently serving as chairman of the executive board of Ethiopian Communications Authority. His LinkedIn Profile also shows that he is currently serving as Chair of the Board of Directors of Ethiopian Electric Utility.

Melaku Alebel, who was appointed as Minister of Trade by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in April 2018 before the Ministry was merged with the Ministry of Industry, has also served at different positions in Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Mr. Melaku has also served as Industry and Investment Bureau Head at the rank of Vice President in Amhara region of Ethiopia. He has also been serving as Board chairman of Abay Industry. Abraham Belay (PhD) has been serving as CEO of the Ethiopian Electric Power. He has also served as deputy director at Information Network Security Agency (INSA).
