Chagni Town of Amhara Gets PP Bags Factory

A new PP (polypropylene) bag factory built at a cost of 322 million birr inaugurated in Chagni town, Awi Administration, Amhara Region of Ethiopia.

A PP (polypropylene) bag factory named Nigat, built at a cost of 322 million birr by KRMY PLC, has been inaugurated in Chagni town of the Awi Nationality Administration in the presence of various members of the community.

The factory has created job opportunities for 147 permanent and 21 temporary employees, according to a report by Amhara Communcations Office. When it becomes fully operational, it is expected to provide employment for more than 350 citizens. The Nigat PP bag factory produces more than 40,000 different types of bags per day.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Chief Administrator of the Awi Nationality Administration, as well as woreda and city administration officials and investors. Chagni (or Chagne) is a town in the Agew Awi Zone of the Amhara Region in northwestern Ethiopia, known for its location in the Guangua district. Also called Kedamawi Haile Selassie Ber, it acts as a commercial hub for the region at an elevation of 1,583 meters.
