BY YANET FANTAYE WOGAYEHU – The fully state owned telecom service provider, Ethio Telecom says it has planned to boost its annual revenue by about 75 percent (164 billion Birr) at the end of the current Ethiopian budget year 2017 – started July 8, 2024.

This is indicated by the CEO of Ethio Telecom, Frehiwot Tamiru, who briefed journalists on Sunday. In addition to revenue, Ethio Telecom also planned to increase the total number of its customers by 6 percent to reach 83 million customers.

She also noted that the company plans to increase its mobile subscribers to 79.7 million boosting it by 5.5 percent from the previous budget year. The company also aims to increase its internet and mobile data customers by 16 percent to 47.4 million.

In addition, it is also aimed to boost the number of broadband customers by 25 percent and reach 934,000. The CEO also stated that at the end of the year, telecom penetration in Ethiopia will reach 93 percent.
