Five African countries Ethiopia, Ghana,  Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, and Zimbabwe are elected to become among the Council Members of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during the annual assembly of the Organization.

In addition to Ethiopia the countries joined the Council include Bolivia, Chile, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mauritania, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Romania, United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe.



“I am proud to announce that Ethiopia 🇪🇹 has been elected as a member of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council during the ongoing 41st session of the Assembly, that gathers ICAO’s member states every three years to convene to form the ICAO Assembly,” said Dagmawit Moges, Minister of Transport who attended the Assembly.

“The Assembly decides on how to ensure the safe, secure, and Sustainable Development of the entire global civil aviation network. And the execution of this strategic vision is undertaken by the ICAO Council, which is the governing body of the ICAO Secretariat,” she wrote on social media.



“Our country Ethiopia is now among the 36 states comprising the ICAO Council, elected by the Assembly. it’s recalled that Ethiopia has been recognized for the significant contributions and improvements have been made in safety and ICAO standards and Recommended Practices (for the period 2019-2022 G.C) at the beginning of the Assembly.”
