The Ethiopian Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel hosted the monthly meeting of the Group of African Ambassadors in Israel, which discusses on various issues and exchanges views on areas of common interest.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Reta Alemu Nega spoke about the current situation in Ethiopia, the regional issues and the potential to further strengthen cooperation in political, economic and social relations between African countries and Israel, according to the information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.



It is stated that in order to enhance Africa’s economic diplomacy activities, the group agreed to organize an African-Israel Investment and Business Conference in May 2022 in collaboration with Israel- Africa Chamber of Commerce.

Ambassador Reta underlined the importance of “African Solutions to African Problems” and noted a great lesson that Ethiopia has learned over the past year on how solidarity between African brothers and sisters helps withstand challenges to chart the path towards peace and prosperity.



He also stated that the recently held Ordinary Session of the African Union Assembly was successfully conducted in Ethiopia. He referred to the proposal presented by Ethiopia’s Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed to establish the African Union Continental Media House.

Additionally, he recalled that February is Black History Month and stressed that Adwa is an African victory. He reiterated that it is crucial time to solidify the unity among Africans and play an active role at world stage.

The Israel-Africa Chamber of Commerce was established in June 1996 to advance commercial and economic relations between Israel and Sub-Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa).
