The Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF), which is designated as a terrorist group by the Parliament of Ethiopia, has reactivated its invasion in the neighboring Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Towns named Alamata, Waja, and Adirqay areas are reportedly occupied by TPLF forces, according to reports from Amhara region. Waja and Timuga areas are now under control of TPLF, according to the opposition party in Amhara region, National Movement of Amhara (NaMA).
The party on its official facebook page urged the Amahara Fanos to unite and organize in order to counter the invasion of TPLF.
In his message last Sunday at inauguration of the new headquarters of the Ethiopian National Defense Force built in Addis Ababa, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia has warned TPLF to stop the war, which he described as the 7th mistake of the Front since Abiy came to power in April 2018.
About a week ago it was announced that the Amhara militia, Fano (armed Amhara civilians fighting TPLF invaders), and Afar militia have liberated Afar and Amhara regions from TPLF. Meanwhile after the Government of Ethiopia has announced that its troops will not advance into Tigray territory chasing TPLF fighters, over the past week TPLF has begun a new war by attacking areas in Afar and Amhara regions, according to reports coming from the areas.
People in the area are expressing their fear that Lalibela and Sekota towns may again fall in the hands of the TPLF if the ENDF doesn’t react to the provocation and invasion of the Front. It is been reported that TPLF is deploying its forces around Raya.
In addition to Amhara region, as of this morning TPLF has started attacking Abala town of Afar using rockets and killed many people.
In a related development, a few days ago TPLF has accused the Government of Ethiopia for killing civilians with an airstrike, and Eritrean Government for launching a military attack in Tigray region against the Front.
