Ethiopia reports 100 new coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Ethiopia today reported 100 new coronavirus cases after conducting laboratory tests for 4,950 people in the last 24 hours.

The figure is the highest daily confirmed coronavirus case of the country. Out of the 100 people found infected today, 94 are from the capital, Addis Ababa. The report also stated that 62 of them had neither prior international travel history nor contact with COVID-19 patients. Among them 35 had previous contact with COVID-19 patients, while the remaining three had international travel history, according to the report.



Of the 100 COVID-19 positive, 99 of them are Ethiopians while the remaining is a Burundi national. The total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Ethiopia has now reached 831, out of which 191 have recovered. The Ministry has also reported one additional death from the global pandemic.

The total number of people died in Ethiopia from the virus has now increased to seven after a 70 years old woman passed away waiting her laboratory test for the virus. So far 96,566 people have got laboratory tests for coronavirus in Ethiopia. Currently 631 patients are getting treatment and two patients went back to their country Japan.

The virus, which was originated from China in December 2019 has so far killed over 365,100 people across the world.
