For four days’ official visit President of German Frank-Walter Steinmeier is set to arrive Addis Ababa, Ethiopia this afternoon.
He will be staying I Ethiopia for three days meeting different officials and attending various events, including witnessing agreement signing between Ethiopia Investment Commission and Germany’s Volkswagen AG.
Among the officials he is expected to meet include Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed President Sahle-Work Zewde. During his stay in the political capital of Africa President Steinmeier is also expected to confer with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat.
He is also expected to attend a roundtable discussion with the economic adviser to the PM and members of the German and Ethiopian business communities. He is also expected to meet civil society representatives and prominent Ethiopians advocating political change as well as confer with the business community representatives.
His schedule also involves visit the rock-hewn churches at Lalibela, which are a UNESCO world heritage site.
Ethiopia and German have been cooperating for over 50 years in multiple fronts. Starting from 2009, Germany has closely supported Ethiopia’s green economy policy and supported the revival of 180,000 hectares of land that benefits over 194,000 farmers.
The Government of German has also been active in supporting Ethiopia’s education sector reform from building universities to focusing on vocational education expansion such as, introducing cobblestone across Ethiopia.
