Ethiopian government jails Bereket Simon, the most influential person in the ruling coalition who is also considered as the right-hand of the late Meles Zenawi.
Mr. Bereket Simon is arrested today in Addis Ababa for corruption. Bereket is one of the founders the Amhara National Democratic Movement now rebranded as Amhara Democratic Party (ADP), which is one of the four member parties of the ruling coalition Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).
He is arrested along with another official Tadesse Kassa nicknamed as Tinkishu, who used to serve as head of the party owned businesses in Amhara Region of Ethiopia, according to FBC.
Both are arrested suspected of embezzling Tret Corporate, the party conglomerate when they were in leadership of the board, according to the Amhara Mass Media FB post.
Mr. Zigale Gebeyehu, Amhara Region Anti-corruption commissioner told media that since the charges against the two individuals is related to the affairs of Amhara Region, the suspects are taken to Bahir Dar City.

In addition, Tiret also owns BDC Construction PLC, and Woldia Fruits and Vegetables Complexing PLC.
