The Office of Prime Minister of Ethiopia urged Ethiopians at home and in the diaspora to unite and eliminate Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) that has waged war on the people to destabilize the country.

In a statement the Office released this afternoon, the Government of Ethiopia has called on the people of Ethiopia to unite like their forefathers and foremothers, who managed to handover an independent Ethiopia to this generation by paying heavy sacrifice saying no to colonialists and their messengers.

“The battle is not with Tigray, but with terrorist forces…we are battling to liberate the people of Tigray who are being used as an instrument by TPLF, and the whole of Ethiopia from the terrorist group, to maintain the peace and unity of our country.”

The statement also stated that since TPLF is making its aggression look like a warfare of the people by using human wave war strategy, Ethiopians should also respond accordingly by uniting themselves and defend their country from falling apart.

“…Our struggle is not only with the terrorist junta [TPLF], but also with countries from near and far, which are set to destabilize our country and ruin its hope,” the statement said.

“Therefore, all those who love their country has to stand wholeheartedly to maintain its sovereignty. In order to protect the dignity of his country, let every Ethiopian commit himself / herself and standup today like the old times,” it said.

The statement indicated recalled that TPLF has committed treason when it attacked the northern command base of Ethiopian army last November forcing Ethiopian government to go into war.

It also indicated that though the government of Ethiopia has declared ceasefire at the end of last June and withdrew all its troops from Tigray region in order to allow farmers to be engaged in farming activities without missing the rainy season, TPLF has continued its military attack crossing into the neighboring regions of Ethiopia – Amhara and Afar.

As a result, civilians including 200 in Afar were assassinated by TPLF, according to the statement. The statement also stated that though the Government of Ethiopia has been facilitating humanitarian aid to Ethiopians in Tigray region, TPLF has blocked roads denying delivery of highly needed food and related assistance to the needy.

“…Prior to the enactment of unilateral ceasefire, the Government purchased and stocked 400,000 quintals of wheat, 2.5 million liters of edible oil, 14 million liters of fuel, 536, 979 quintals of fertilizer and 37, 599 quintals of improved seeds in Mekelle warehouses. About 70 percent of the arable land has been cultivated.”

“In addition, 1,079 metric tons of food, 664 tons of non-food essentials and 47,740 liters of fuel were supplied to Mekelle through partners. Even after that road have been paved to provide relief. Humanitarian flight permits have been granted all this is done so that our people in the Tigray region will not suffer because of the terrorist TPLF,” the statement said.

“However, the treasonous TPLF could not extricate itself from its terrorist behavior and goal of disintegrating Ethiopia. The killings and looting of communities in the neighboring Amhara and Afar region continue. They have prevented farmers from cultivating their lands. They even robbed monasteries. They barred aid trucks from entering Tigray. The terrorist group has banned the distribution of food in Mekelle to those who would not join their fight,” the statement said.

“…Its leaders have arrogantly declared that the TPLF’s goal and purpose is to disintegrate Ethiopia. With the help of foreign support, they have chosen to pull the trigger for further destruction,” the statement said.

As a result, civilians including 200 in Afar were assassinated by TPLF, according to the statement. The statement also stated that though the Government of Ethiopia has been facilitating humanitarian aid to Ethiopians in Tigray region, TPLF has continued expanding its aggression denying delivery of highly needed food and related assistance to the needy.

Reports show that over the past few weeks millions of Ethiopians at home and abroad have been marching expressing their support to the Ethiopian Government and registering to join the army to defend Ethiopia from TPLF’s agression.
