The officials of Ethiopia and the Government of Pakistan have expressed their interest to enhance defense, military and intelligence cooperation.

This is indicated during a meeting in Islamabad between Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Ambassador Jemal Beker and Minister of Defense of Pakistan, Khawaja Muhammad Asif. During the meeting, the Minister for Defense highlighted that Pakistan considers Ethiopia a close friend and an important country in the region, according to the information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.



He said that Pakistan intends to establish meaningful defense ties with Ethiopia and is focused on enhancing defense, military and intelligence cooperation, according to the statement.“He mentioned Pakistan’s recent contribution to assist Ethiopia with an Against Vote on an EU-Sponsored Resolution at UNHRC related to Human Rights Violations by Ethiopia.”

It is stated that Ambassador Jemal Beker thanked the minister and acknowledged the scale of cooperation between the two countries. He showed a resolve to cooperate and collaborate further in the field of defense. It is recalled that a few dayus ago, the officals of the Government of Ethiopia and India have also met and discussed military cooperation, among others.
