Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), the fully state-owned enterprise, announced that it has recorded a net profit of 54.5 billion birr over the first nine months of the current budget year of Ethiopia started July 2025.
CBE stated that it has achieved a net profit of 54.5 billion Birr during the nine months of the 2025/26 budget year, according to the bank’s president, Mr. Abe Sano. Speaking during a review of the bank’s third-quarter performance, Mr. Abe said that the bank’s total assets have grown to 2.87 trillion Birr.
He noted that the bank has generated substantial revenue during the nine-month period, and also emphasized that the bank should ensure its expenditures are managed in a way that is consistent with its income.
In his concluding remarks at the review meeting, Mr. Abe called on all members of management and employees to work in a coordinated and intensified manner in order to successfully complete the budget year plan and achieve sustained growth.
Currently, CBE has more than 44.9 million account holders and more than 1,971 branches and service outlets. The number of Mobile and Internet Banking users has reached more than 11.2 million and 331,729, respectively. Active ATM card holders has also reached more than 15.1 million and there are more than 30.4 million CBEBirr users.
