Ethiopian customs seizes 230 pistols from arms smugglers

Ethiopian Customs Commission seized 300 Turkish made pistols from arms smugglers at Bahir dar customs Seraba check point in Amhara Region of Ethiopia.

The Commission stated that the pistols were hidden in a Nissan Patrol heading to Addis Ababa on Sunday may 24, 2020. The Customs Commission of Ethiopia, which is one of the revenue streams of the Ministry of Revenue of Ethiopia stated that two individuals who were transporting the weapons are arrested.

In a related development, on the same day, the Commission has also captured 300 pistols from illegal arms traders who were smuggling them to Gondar City of Amhara Region. Official reports of the government show organized crimes mainly contraband trade, which often involves circulation of illegal guns, pistols, narcotics and medicines, among others, has been growing over the past few years.
