Ethiopia's Goods Export Earnings Surpasses $7.7 billion

Ethiopia’s earnings from export of goods has surpassed $7.7 billion in nine moths period until end of march 2026 says, the Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Kassahun Gofe (PhD).

He stated that more than $7.7 billion in revenue was obtained from export trade over the past nine months. The Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, together with affiliated institutions, is conducting a nine-month performance review of the 2018 fiscal year plan.

The forum is being held under the theme “Competitive trade system and efficient market linkage for economic transformation.”

Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Kassahun Gofe (PhD), during the occasion, stated that the institution’s capacity to implement its mission has been improving over time and encouraging results have been recorded in all sectors during the past nine months.

During the nine months, in online trade registration, issuance of new licenses, renewal, and cancellation services, efficient services were provided to more than 2.9 million customers.

In terms of export trade, he explained that more than $7.7 billion in revenue was generated from all types of trade. Regarding the expansion of market infrastructure, he stated that the number of weekend markets that help stabilize markets has currently reached 2,190.

He noted that the work to expand secondary-level livestock trading centers has been strengthened, and during the nine months, two were inaugurated and began operations.

He stated that currently seven other centers are under construction. He explained that tangible improvements have been recorded in product quality and control, and that systems for setting and administering standards suitable for the national economy have been established.
