The South Ethiopia Regional State Communication Service announced that the region has generated 925.6 million Birr from the sector over the last nine months attracting over 33,000 foreign tourists.
In a statement, Mr. Hailemariam Tesfaye, Head of the South Ethiopia Regional State Communication Service, explained that a total of 925.6 million Birr was collected from both domestic and foreign tourists over the past nine months. He also stated that 33,800 foreign tourists visited the region during the budget year, generating 364 million Birr in revenue.
Mr. Hailemariam Tesfaye noted that the region’s man-made, natural, and cultural assets have made it a preferred tourist destination.
Mr. Hailemariam indicated in his statement that significant focus is currently being placed on infrastructure development to enhance the tourism sector. Mr. Hailemariam Tesfaye also elaborated that the regional government is creating favorable conditions to further strengthen the sector in the future.
