The state-owned National Information and Security University of Ethiopia has concluded the training of security officers from the neighboring South Sudan, who have been studying in Ethiopia.

The students have studied senior level of information and security leadership as per the agreement reached between the security agencies of the two neighboring countries, according to the information from National Information and Security Services of Ethiopia. meanwhile the total number of security officers graduated is not mentioned in the report.



Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the head of Ethiopia’s intelligence agency Temesgen Tiruneh, indicated that the two countries have been collaborating in fighting terrorism, cross border crimes, illegal money circulation, and maintaining peace and security of the two countries.

Indicating that other African countries have also been showing interest to send their security personnel to Ethiopia for the training, he also indicated that the university has been working to become a center of excellence in East Africa and the continent in general by excelling its education in information, intelligence and security matters.



At the graduation ceremony, the head of South Sudan intelligence agency, Lt Gen Akol Koor, has also appreciated the Government of Ethiopia for providing the training and stressed the need for the two countries to continue working together.

It is also indicated that four months ago, junior security officers from South Sudan have also taken courses at the security university of Ethiopia.
