Ten COVID-19 patients in Ethiopia recovered

Out of the total of 71 confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Ethiopia, ten patients have recovered so far, said the Ministry of Health.

Currently 56 patients of COVID-19 are being treated, while three have died. There is no patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according to Dr. Liya Tadesse, Minister of Health of Ethiopia. Yesterday Ethiopia has reported five and today two additional COVID-19 patients, which increased the total confirmed cases in the country to 71.



In a related development, the Council of Ministers issued a directive that includes banning the gathering of more than four people. It has also made mandatory for all people to use face masks in a public places such as banks, pharmacies and the like. The directive is issued as part of the implementing the state of emergency the Ethiopian Parliament approved on Friday this week. The state of emergency will be in effect for the coming five months.

All employers private of state are forbidden to their employees during the period of the state of emergency. Those who rented their houses are also forbidden by by this regulation from increasing house/office rent fee and from canceling their contract during this period. Citizens or companies with extra buildings or vehicles are also required to allow the government to use their properties for free for a period of time when it is needed by the committee engaged in fighting the spread of COVID-19 in Ethiopia.
