By Mabingue Ngom – Demographic data drives and defines the core functions of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The primacy of data is of great importance to any nation as it defines and sets the parameters of economic and social development planning. Data plays a central role in the population variable in sectoral policies.
With the aim of helping the poorest countries fight against the spread of COVID-19, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved relief on debt service for 25 member countries including 19 in Africa.
From Chad to the Democratic Republic of Congo, the economies of Central Africa must fully industrialize to survive. But to do this, member States should systematically take a coherent set of steps and coordinate a broad range of actors in gathering the resources required, and in the most innovative, practical and business-enabling ways.
