Customs Commission of Ethiopia has seized smuggled goods worth 84.3 million Birr from people engaged in contraband trading.

The Commission stated that the goods are captured within one week period from people who tried to smuggle the goods out of the country and into the country.



Out of the total 78.4 million Birr goods were captured from smugglers who tried to bring in the goods into the country illegally.

It is stated that the major customs posts of the country, which seized the goods are Moyale, Dire Dawa, and Jigjiga. Among the smuggled goods seized smuggled into the country are electronics, clothes, medicines, cosmetics, and weapons.

Some of the goods seized from smugglers taking the goods out of Ethiopia include coffee, chat, narcotics (marijuana), and hard currencies of different countries.
