Decisive resolutions and directions that would benefit the people in the region and sustain the reform are expected from the 10th organizational congress of Southern Ethiopian People’s Democratic Movement (SEPDM), says head of Central Office of SEPDM.
Moges Balcha head of the office said the congress is expected to pass crucial resolutions and set directions that would significantly contribute to the ongoing nationwide reform that would benefit the people of the region and the country.
Among the agendas that the congress is expected to discuss and set direction is the proposal to change its name and logo. According to Moges, many members of the organization have requested the need for change.
Noting the importance of bringing the new generation to the leadership of the party, Moges said the congress is expected to retire some senior members of the leadership and bring new faces.
The congress that kicked off in Hawassa, the regional capital, have brought together more than 1,200 participants.
SEPDM, one of the four members of the ruling coalition – Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Party (EPRDF). EPRDF was established 25 years ago, by merging 22 organizations that were struggling for the benefit of people of the region.
