Ethiopian Airlines, one of the biggest aviation group in Africa, is set to commence direct flight to the historic place Lalibela town.
Ethiopian Airlines will be flying daily to Lalibela as of Monday January 3, 2022. The town of Lalibela is known for its rock-hewn churches registered by the UNSCO as one of the eight wonders of the world. The town of Lalibela is among the most visted destinations in Ethiopia by both Ethiopians and tourists.
Ethiopia Airlines stopped its flight to Lalibela after the Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) expanded its invasion in Amhara and Afar regions since last July. Lalibela town, which was under the TPLF control for a few months, was also liberated by Ethiopian national defense force about a month ago.
Ethiopian Government and TPLF has been fighting since midnight of November 3, 2020 – when the later attacked the northern command of Ethiopian army base found in Tigray region and killed several thousands of soldiers while they were sleeping.
