Green Tech Ethiopia enters electric car market of Ethiopia

With short term plan of importing 5,000 vehicles, Green Tech Ethiopia, a private company in Ethiopia, today introduced to Ethiopian market six models of imported rechargeable electric cars.

Once fully recharged the cars can travel up to 320 kilometers, according to Mr. Tedros Tadesse, Communications head of Green Ethiopia. Indicating that the company will soon import 5,000 electric vehicles, he said that in collaboration with Green Transport company, the electric cars can be transferred to buyers with loan facilities.



Comparing with vehicles that consume fuel, Mr. Tedros indicated that the rechargeable electric cars can save Ethiopia’s hard currency spending’s to import fuel and spare parts by one-third.

After Marathon Motors, which has been assembling electric cars in Ethiopia for the past few months, Green Tech Ethiopia is the second to officially enter electric cars market in the country. It is indicated that in addition to electricity, the cars Green Ethiopia is importing can also use solar energy.



Reports show that over the past few ears electric and solar cars have been getting popularity globally. Giant companies like Tesla have been aggressively working to dominate the electric cars market.
