The Ministry of Health of Ethiopia said it has found the largest number 17 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours period.
Dr. Liya Tadesse, Ethiopia’s Minister of Health on her official facebook page indicated that the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Ethiopia has now reached 161. She indicated that all the 17 new coronavirus infected people are Ethiopian nationals. Out of the 17 new coronavirus infected seven have recently returned from Djibouti and were kept in a quarantine in Afar region of Ethiopia.
Six of them have travel history to the neighboring Somalia. While the remaining four COVID-19 positive are residents of the capital, Addis Ababa, and had no international travel history. The Minister stated that currently there are 63 COVID-19 patients getting treatment and 93 have recovered from the global pandemic.
In a related development, State Minister of Finance, Eyob Tekalign told the state news agency, ENA, the government is working to raise $1. 64 billion assistance for COVID-19 Emergency Response and other related preparedness like food and water supply.
