Customs Commission of Ethiopia said it has seized 2 kilograms of gold from a passenger arriving from South Sudan.

The unnamed passenger was hiding the two kilograms of gold in his shoes. He was planning to travel to Dubai after arriving Addis Ababa as transit passenger, according to the report of Customs Commission of Ethiopia, which shared the news last night on its social media page.

The report stated that the Commission has collaborated with the intelligence of Ethiopia to capture the passenger and confiscate the smuggled gold. The value of the two kilograms of gold is estimated to be 6.6 million Ethiopian Birr.

Reports show that Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa has often been used as a transit by international organized criminals including narcotic drug smugglers who do trafficking from Latin America to West Africa and other destinations.
