Ethiopia’s fast growing application based taxi service provider, RIDE, today announced entering the neighboring Djibouti market.

Founded by enterpreneur Samrawit Fikru and provided by Hybrid Designs PLC, RIDE taxi service has been popular in Ethiopia since its establishment a few years ago. RIDE will be the first Ethiopian taxi service provider to operate outside the country.It is estimated that currently over twenty thousand cars are providing taxi services in Addis Ababa with application-based taxi service providers such as RIDE, Zay Ride, and the like.
It is recalled that recently Hybrid Designs PLC has lost its court case against Zay Ride, which is the first company to commence application-based taxi service in Ethiopia.

Hybrid Designs PLC brought a case against Zay Ride indicating that the name RIDE is its registered brand name and shouldn’t be used by Zay Ride. Meanwhile, the court decided that Zay Ride has the right to use the name.
