Benishangul rebels in Ethiopia ink peace deal

Benishangul People Liberation Movement (BPLM), a rebel group in Benishangul Gumz region of Ethiopia, agreed to stop fighting and work peacefully with the regional administration.

The information from Benishangul Gumz region stated that the fighters of the group have agreed to put down their weapons and reunite with the society. The inhabitants of the region have welcomed the rebel group fighters returning from the border area with Sudan where it was using as its base for military operations.



The state broadcaster stated that the disarmament of the members of BPLM came following the peace deal inked in Khartoum, Sudan.

After the disarmament the members of the Front will take rehabilitation and the regional government of Benishangul will help them get jobs, according to ETV report, which quoted official of Benishangul Gumz region of Ethiopia and BPLM leader, Abdulwahab Mehdi Issa.
