Gondar University trains Roseau Hotel and Spa staff

The University of Gondar in Amhara region of Ethiopia has provided skill enhancement training program on hospitality and its operations to the staff of the newly opened four-star hotel Roseau Hotel and Spa.

Provided by the Department of Hotel Management of the University of Gondar, the training is conducted with the topic, ‘Hands-on skill enhancement training program’. The ten days training is conducted from 7th to 16th March, 2022 in the hotel premises, according to the information New Business Ethiopia received from the University of Gondar.



“The eminent teaching staffs of the Department of Hotel Management namely Dr.Thamimul Ansari, Associate Professor and Mr.Asfaw Shibabaw, Lecturer and Head had served as trainers for the conduct of training program,” the statement said.

The training was emphasized on the skill development of the hotel employees working in various departments in the hotel such as Food production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office, House Keeping, Finance, Human Resource, Purchase, Stores, Security, Maintenance and related issues. Overall, 70 employees attended the training.

The Hands-on skill enhancement training was duly supported with lectures, audio and video presentations and mock live demonstrations. Further, the trainees were assigned with various group tasks, warm up exercises and management games to understand the concepts and to actively participate in the training sessions.



The statement noted that General Manager of the hotel Mr.Tamirat Assefa rendered the opening and closing speech and distributed certificates for the trainees. “The heads of the various departments viz. Executive Chef Mr. Girma Worku, F and; B Manager Mr.Fasil and the HR Manager Mr.Seid Sitotaw played a predominant role in the effective outcome of the training program,” it said.
