NEWS- The total number of people died from coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased to 40 after five more deaths reported on Thursday.
The Ministry of Health said that it has also found 164 new COVID-19 cases after conducting laboratory tests for 6,630 people in the last 24 hours. This has increased the total number of confirmed cases in Ethiopia to 2,670. The daily report stated that out of them, one is a foreign national and 104 of the 164 are from Addis Ababa and 26 are from Somali region of Ethiopia.
The report also stated that 22 of the 164 new COVID-19 positive patients foud in Ethiopia are from Amhara region, four from Tigray, four from Southern region, two from Oromia, one from Harari and one from Benishangul Gumz regions of the country.
After the fist case was reported in the country three months ago, Ethiopia has conducted laboratory tests for a total of 165,151 people. In the last 24 hours additional 33 patients of COVID-19 have also recovered increasing the total to 434, according to the Ministry’s daily report.
Currently 2,194 patients are getting medical treatment, while 32 are in critical condition.
