The American Academy of Achievement awards Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia for his achievement in green legacy of combating global warming.
“In a special event under the theme “Africa: The Urgency of a Global Mobilization” organized by the American Academy of Achievement & the Global Hope Coalition, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was awarded the ‘Outstanding African Leadership Award’ for the Green Legacy Initiative,” twitted the office of the Prime Minister this morning.
Initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed a few years ago, Green Ligancy has enabled Ethiopia to plant several billions of trees across the country to tackle global warming and the negative impacts of climate change.
“It is to be recalled that Ethiopia launched the Green Legacy Initiative in 2019 with an ambition of planting 20billion seedlings in a span of four years and exceeded the set goal by fulfilling the four year challenge with 25billion seedlings planted throughout the country,” recalled the Office of the Prime Minister in its twit.
Currently Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is in the United Sates along with many African leaders for the United Sates and Africa n leaders forum organized by the US Government.
The American Academy of Achievement was founded by Brian Blaine Reynolds, an acclaimed photographer best known for his contributions to Life magazine and Sports Illustrated. Reynolds established the Academy of Achievement to bring aspiring young people together with real-life heroes — the kind of achievers he met every week on assignment.
