War-affected towns in Northern Ethiopia get electricity

Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP), the state energy distribution agency, said it has enabled several war-affected towns in the northern part of Ethiopia such as, Lalibela, Kobo, Alamata, Maychew, among others to get electric power.

EEP said it has been repairing electric infrastructure in the northern part of the country mainly damaged by the war between the Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) and Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF).



The electric power infrastructure repairing and restoration of services has begun in the recently liberated towns from TPLF namely Woldiya and Alamata.

The agency said the Woldiya-Alamata high voltage electric transmission line is repaired and fully began providing electricity to the two tows. The maintenance of the transformation line has also enabled neighboring towns such as Lalibela, Sekota, Kobo, Maychew to get electricity, according to the statement from EEP.
