Ethiopia orders defense forces to reverse TPLF's latest invasion

The federal security council led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed of Ethiopia today gave greenlight for regional security and national defense forces to reverse the latest invasion and expansion of Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) in the neighboring regions of the country.

Reports show that over the past few weeks the national defense force of Ethiopia has not been reacting to the latest aggression of the TPLF in Afar and Amhara regions. During the meeting the intelligence head of Ethiopia Temesgen Tiruneh stressed the need to address in advance issues that could be potential threat to the country, according to the report of the state media FBC.



The Council, which involves the heads of different regions of Ethiopia as well as high-ranking security and military chiefs, also stressed the need for formalizing the informal armed groups established to counter the inversion of TPLF. Strengthening of the security of Ethiopia and counter illegal and criminal activities in the country is also discussed during the consultative meeting.

In addition to countering the threat posed by the latest inversion of TPLF, the Council also discussed the need to counter illegal circulations of weapons, cross-border contraband trade, as well as, strengthening peaceful relations with neighboring countries.
