Huawei participated in the job fair hosted by Addis Ababa Science and Technology University (AASTU), in order to provide fresh graduates employment and internship opportunities.
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Mr. Xuyong, Huawei Ethiopia, human Resource director, and Dr. Dereje Engida, president of AASTU, the president stated that AASTU is collaborating with many organizations, including Huawei, to create career opportunities for fresh graduates and to equip them with the skills needed in the twenty-first century.
AASTU students exhibited their innovations to the audience attending the event and potential employers. During the visit, they also mentioned that the University gives them a chance to be innovators.
Mr. Liming Ye, Huawei Ethiopia public relations director, stated that during this job fair, Huawei planned to offer 43 intern jobs and 15 employee roles to fresh graduates. He went on to say that Huawei, as a potential employer, wishes to provide employment possibilities to Ethiopian graduates, which is why the company hosts a handshaking forum every year.
Huawei, as a technology business, has an abundance of experience to share with the country’s youth. As a result, the company is creating an internship program and hiring the majority of recent graduates.
It is known that Huawei held its handshaking forum, a program designed to promote opportunities for graduate students, on May 15 and 16, 2023, in collaboration with Addis Ababa University (AAU).
In collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, Huawei launched an ICT academy in 45 private and public universities, including AASTU. It is also known that nine of the students from different universities who are attending this academy participated in the 7th Huawei ICT Competition Global Final held in Shenzhen, China, from May 24 to 28, 2023, and won the third prize.
