Abyssinian Aviation Academy, the first private aviation college in Ethiopia, has graduated 54 pilots in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
Of the total 22 are graduated with Commercial Pilot License, while 30 have got their Private Pilot License and two are pilot trainers. Since its establishment 12 years ago Abyssinian Aviation Academy has graduated a total of 186 pilots.
The Academy is a sister company of Abyssinian Flight Services, which is also the pioneering private flight service provider in Ethiopia established 20 years ago by Captain Solomon Gizaw.
It is indicated that Abyssinian Aviation Academy provides training on both Diamond DA-40 and Cessna C-172 aircraft. It also offers Multi-Engine training on a DA-42 (Glass Cockpit-Garmin 1000).
Beginning operation in 1999 with one lease-purchased Cessna Caravan fleet, today Abyssinian Flight Services has six factory new Cessna Caravan/Grand Caravans, 6 Thielert engine Cessna 172 aircraft, 2 Diamond DA40TDI and 2 Diamond DA42NG Twin engine aircraft, according to the information from its official website.
