Addis Ababa Job Creation and Enterprise Development Bureau said it has created job opportunities for 205,477 people during the first nine months Ethiopia’s current fiscal year started July 8, 2019.
Out of the total 21,342 are graduates of higher education and 97,079 are women, according to the state daily paper, The Ethiopian Herald, which quoted Mr. Abiot Tadesse, Director of the Bureau.
Unemployment has been a series challenge for Ethiopia especially in cities like Addis Ababa as the number of people migrating from rural areas has been increasing. Rural poverty, the recent ethnic violence and displacements in some parts of the country, among others, have been drivers of rural to urban migration in Ethiopia.
