A male Nigerian passenger leaving Ethiopia via Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is caught on Saturday trying to smuggle $141,000 cash out of the country.

Mr. Addis Yirga, from the customs team at the Bole International Airport told FBC that as long as there is support from the public, it will be easy to monitor and control such illegal movement of money in bulk.



He indicated that the capture Nigerian money smuggler in Addis Ababa shows how those engaged in illegal movement of money in Ethiopia are changing their tactics.

180 Turkish pistols
In a related development, the Addis Ababa Police Commission and the national intelligence team have caught 180 pistols in a minibus in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Turkish made pistols were caught on Friday being smuggled into the capital in a minibus, according to the statement from the Addis Ababa Police Commission. The report stated that both the driver of the mini bus and the conductor are arrested for further investigation.

Capture of illegal Turkish pistols in Ethiopia has been common over the past few months. So far several thousands of made in Turkey pistols are captured by the police being smuggled into Addis Ababa.
