The Government of Ethiopia said it has seized two containers of weapons including over 18,000 Turkish made Pistols, imported illegally via Djibouti Port by arms’ traffickers.
The Ethiopian Parliament on Thursday passes the new proclamation that aims to regulate weapons’ possession and combat illegal trafficking of fire arms within the country.
Including Turkish pistols, the customs officers in Bahir Dar, city of Amhara region of Ethiopia have seized 12,032 illegal bullets and guns this week.
The Ethiopian Customs Commission said it has seized over 35 pistols from smugglers who tried to bring the weapons illegally into the capital, Addis Ababa.
The National intelligence and security service of Ethiopia and the police today capture 28 Kalashnikov guns, 459 Turkish-made pistols and $700,000 in cash from smugglers.
