Hong Kong company takes Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar Industry Park

Hop Lun, the Hong Kong-based textile and garment company has decided to fully take over the recently built Ethiopia’s Bahir Dar Industry Park found in Amhara region.

The company’s officials today concluded transfer deal with Ethiopia’s Industrial Park Development Corporation, the state agency in charge of building and administering industrial parks in Ethiopia. The Hong Kong company is known for one of its brands, Premark.



It will take between 3 to 18 months for the Hong Kong company, which now takes all the eight sheds in the Bahir Dar Industrial Park, to start training employees and move into production of clothes.

When the company goes fully operational it is expected to create jobs for 6,000 people.
It is also indicated that Bahir Dar city administration has expressed its plan to provide additional 2,000 hectares of land for the expansion of Bahir Dar Industrial Park.
