COVID-19 case in Ethiopia increases to 3,166

The total number of COVID-19 patients confirmed in Ethiopia has increased to 3,166 after 268 new cases are confirmed today.

Out of the 168 new cases, which is the largest so far the country reported in 24 hours, one is a foreign national, while all the rest are Ethiopians. The Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in its daily statement indicated that it has conducted laboratory tests for 5,644 people of which 268 are found coronavirus positive.



Out of the 268 new cases, 232 are from the capital, Addis Ababa. 12 are from Amhara region, while 8 from Amhara, 6 from Tigray, 5 from Harari, 2 from Southern part, 2 from Afar, and one from Benishangul Gumz regions. The total number of patients in Ethiopia critical confidition has also increased to 39, according to the report.

While 495 of the total of 3,166 confirmed cases have recovered, 2,614 are currently getting medical treatment. The report also stated that a total of 55 patients have died so far including eight Ethiopians who lost their lives by the pandemic in the last 24 hours.
