Ethiopia achieves 94 percent tax revenue target

The Ministry of Revenue of Ethiopia has said it has achieved its 93.53 percent of its tax revenue collection for the year ended July 7, 2022.

During the year the Ministry was planning to collect a total of 360 billion Birr tax revenue. Meanwhile, at the end of the year it has collected a total of 336.7 billion Birr achieving 93.53 percent of its target, according to the information obtained from the Ministry of Revenue of Ethiopia.



Out of the total tax revenue collected during the year, 196.2 billion is secured from domestic taxes. The remaining close to 140.5 billion Birr is generated from international trade taxes and duties, according to the Ministry’s information.

Official figures show that over the past years the tax revenue of the Government of Ethiopia has been increasing on average with between 15 to 20 percent per annum.
