Constructed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, near the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) compound, Africa Park today opened for the public.
During the inauguration, Adanech Abebe, Mayor of Addis Ababa city, the political capital of Africa, and deputy mayor Jantirar Abbay as well as other guests have attended the inauguration ceremony this morning.
Ethiopian diaspora community who are at home for the Great Home Coming call of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed have also attended this morning event along with regional government officials. During the event it is indicated that in Addition to Africa Park, other parks namely Ethiopia park and Addis Ababa Park are all open to the public as of today.
Various entertainment and historical programs have taken place during this morning inauguration of Africa Park. It is recalled that over the weekend Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has inaugurated the country’s biggest and modern public library in Addis Ababa built near the national palace.
In a related development, not far from the new Africa Park, a mass sport event is held by the Ethiopian diaspora at the recently renovated Meskel Square. It is indicated that the event is one of the programs designed to welcome the Ethiopian diaspora who came to celebrate the Ethiopian Christmas (Genna) holiday accepting invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s one million diaspora home coming challenge. Ethiopians are set to celebrate their Genna Holiday next Friday.
