Ethiopia's Warder gets electricity from main grid

Warder, the capital of Dolo zone in Somali region of Ethiopia, has got electricity service from Kabridehar power distribution station.

This is indicated by the head of National Electricity Supply Project Mr. Hussain Mohammed. He said that the existing 143 km 33 KV power line has been converted to hydroelectric power to connect Warder town, which was previously powered by diesel, to the main grid.



The head mentioned that the infrastructure development work from Kabridehar to Warder will also benefiting one district town and three rural kebeles. He said that work is being done to complete the remaining two rural kebals within a week.

He pointed out that 37 km of new low line construction, 12 transformer installation and 435 new meter connection work were done. This project is started in 2020 and cost 116.4 million Birr, according to the information disseminated by the state owned Ethiopian Electric Utility.



He said that despite various problems of resources, enforcement of road boundaries and capacity of associations, it was possible to achieve the initiative by solving the problems.
