TPLF loots half a million liters of fuel, UN agency says

The Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) has looted 12 fuel tankers with 570,000 liters of fuel intended for humanitarian assistance distribution to beneficiaries in the Tigray region, says the World Food Program (WFP).

“Hours ago, Tigrayan authorities stole 570,000 liters of fuel for WFP operations in Tigray. Millions will starve if we do not have fuel to deliver food. This is OUTRAGEOUS and DISGRACEFUL. We demand return of this fuel NOW,” twitted WFP Executive Director, David Beasley.

The Spokesperson of the United Nations Secretary General, Stéphane Dujarric, also confirmed that warehouses in Mekelle forcibly entered this morning by TPLF looting 12 fuel tankers with 570,000 liters of fuel intended for humanitarian assistance distribution to beneficiaries in the Tigray region.

Reacting to the news on Facebook comment reads: “But you should follow-up what ever enter Tigray, it should be used for its intended purposes. And demand the confirmation from #WFP Otherwise, you should controls the flow…How come you allow half a million litres of fuel to flow to tplf hands considering current delicate situations???”.

“They gave them and now they are making story to ask another fuel from the federal government lol,” another comment reads.

“It is becoming more clear; UN & its biased agencies are logistics supplier for Terrorist TPLF. Dejavou. nothing new, a script written by a poor writer,” another one reacted.

It is recalled that a new round of war has started between the Government of Ethiopia and TPLF yesterday morning around Kobo and Zoble Mountain border areas between Amhara and Tigray regions of Ethiopia.
