The European Union provides 170 million Euros to the government of Ethiopia supporting the political and economic reforms the east African country embarked on.
The two sides inked the deal in Addis Ababa on Saturday where the visiting President of EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the reformist Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed were witnessing.
Ahmed Shide, Minister of Finance of Ethiopia and European Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen have signed the four support agreements targeting Ethiopia’s political and economic reforms.

“Ethiopia welcomes the continued partnership with the EU. Latter Prime Minister Abiy twitted with photo of the two in the palace. With his picture and the visiting EU Commission President,” he said in the same twit.
Upon her arrival in Addis Ababa, Ursula von der Leyen tweeted, “there could be no better country than Ethiopia for my 1st visit outside the EU. Ethiopia has given hope to an entire continent”.
