The Tigray Region of Ethiopia announced today pardoning 2,332 prisoners who were serving their sentences in different prisons.
The decision was made inline with the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the Tigray peoples Liberation Front (TPLF), according to Tekiu Mitiku, head of Tigray Region security and Administration Bureau.
He told the ruling party affiliate news media FBC that the pardon benefited the prisoners who have demonstrated good manner and regretted by the crimes they committed. Out of the total benefited from the pardon 46 are female prisoners, according to the report.
It is recalled that the federal government of Ethiopia has announced pardoning 63 prisoners including those implicated in corruption and opposition party leaders, among others.
