Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed today announced appointment of a new defense minister and other officials.
Kene’a Yadeta (PhD) is appointed as Defense Minister of Ethiopia replacing the Lemma Megersa, who was recently sacked from the Central Committee of Prosperity Party. The PM has also replaced Adanech Abebe, who was the Attorney General of Ethiopia, by Gedion Timotewos (PhD).
Before her appointment as Attorney General about six months ago Adanech has served as Minister of Revenue of Ethiopia where she managed to boost the annual revenue of the country by about a billion-dollar compared to the previous year. She is now appointed as the first Mayor of Addis Ababa replacing Takele Uma.
Today the PM has also appointed Takele Uma mayor of the capital Addis Ababa to serve as Minister of Mine and Petroleum. PM Abiy also appointed Samuel Hurkato (PhD) to serve his administration as Minister of Science and Higher Education.
Nigusu Tilahun, Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister is also appointed to serve as Commissioner of Job Creation Commission. Professor Hirut Woldemariam is also appointed to serve as social sector Advisor of the Prime Minister with Ministerial portfolio.
