East Africa Bottling S.C (EABSC), a local bottler of Coca Cola, handed out 1.5 million birr worth food supplies to internally displaced people due to the recent Ethiopian Somalia Region and Oromia Region conflicts.
The handover ceremony is organized on November 4, 2017 at Deder, East Hararge Zone of Oromia Region, according to the press statement from Coca Cola Ethiopia office.
The support is planned to be distributed for more than 5000 households, focusing on pregnant and lactating women, children as per the needs identified by the Ethiopian Red Cross Society. The food items are meant for 30 days and the food items include rice, pasta, macaroni, milk powder, sugar and flour.
Coca Cola operates throughout Ethiopia and serves the nation using its plants and distribution centers found across the country. As a fundamental value of its business growth, the company works on community care and outreaching poor and disadvantaged people. It has been engaged in a number of community support activities as the company believes the wellbeing of the company is linked to the wellbeing of the society.
It is to be recalled that last year the company supported two million birr for compatriots affected by the recent drought through the Ethiopian Red Cross.
Coca Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) is Coca Cola’s the largest bottler on the continent. The company operates in more than 12 African countries operating in over 30 bottling plants, the company produces and distributes some 40% of all Coca Cola beverage volumes in Africa.
Being the subsidiary of CCBA, East Africa Bottling S.C is producing and distributing coca cola beverages throughout Ethiopia with three plants in Addis Ababa, Dire Dawa and Bahir Dar.
As part of its CSR initiatives, the company has been engaged in different community based projects like Plastic Recycling and Touch projects, a communal support program to outreach the poor, marginalised and disadvantaged people. Such relief interventions are part of the touch and outreach programs carried out on need bases.
