BY YANET FANTAYE WOGAYEHU – The Government of Ethiopia has spent about 30 billion Birr for three integrated agro-industrial parks recently completed, said Minister of Industry.

“Out of this eight billion Birr was spent on seven rural transformation centers and the Bure integrated agro-industrial park,” Melaku Alebel Minister of Industry, said today speaking at a meeting held in Bahir Dar in relation to introduction of the recently completed Bure Integrated Agro-industrial Park in Amhara region.



He said that the fourth one is under construction as the government has continued investing huge amount of money in industrial parks development that add value to agricultural production.

The minister said that the parks have many other benefits for creating more job opportunities, creating market linkages for farmers’ products and increasing competitiveness by reducing the pressure of investors.

He stated that the benefits of the parks are high in terms of generating foreign currency and bringing technology to the country.

He explained that the parks provide answers to investors who ask where to go and what to invest in, how to get an efficient one-stop service, and if the infrastructure complete.



A paper was presented to the participants regarding the agricultural potential and benefits of the region, the favorable conditions in the park, the incentive system for investors entering the sector.

A panel discussion will be held later, according to the information the Ministry of Industry of Ethiopia disseminated today.
