Bunna Bank of Ethiopia focuses in Corporate Social Responsibility

With the objective of proactively engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in an organized manner, Bunna International Bank of Ethiopia said it is preparing CSR policy.

This is indicated by Mulugeta Alemayehu, CEO of Bunna International Bank, who briefed reporters in his office in Addis Ababa this morning. “So far we have been reacting to the needs coming from various groups who seek our corporate social responsibility services. Now we are drafting a new policy, which will enable us to proactively engage in corporate social responsibilities,” he said.



For the past five years Bunna has been actively engaged in CSR activities financing various development related projects by the government and non-governmental organizations.

Among the CSR activities of Bunna mentioned by the CEO is 10 million Birr donation to “Gebeta Legehager” project launched recently by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to build three tourist destinations found in different parts of the country. He also mentioned financing of one million Birr to school feeding program.

In a related development, the CEO also stated that 66,828 new bank accounts are opened by the Bank with total saving of 836 million Birr after the country introduced new currency notes a month ago. Established 11 years ago, Bunna International Bank currently providing its services in 245 of its branches across the country.
