The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ethiopia has jumped to 191 after the country reported 29 new cases today, including the four new cases Tigray Region reported this evening.
The number of new cases the country reported is the largest confirmed cases it has reported in one day. All the new coronavirus infected people found today are all Ethiopian nationals, according to the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia.
Out of the 25 new coronavirus positive individuals the federal Ministry of Health reported, 19 have no international travel history. 21 of them are residents of the capital, Addis Ababa, while 2 are living in Oromia and the remaining two are residents of the Southern part of the country. In Ethiopia, so far 4 people have died from the global pandemic and 93 have recovered.
So far Ethiopia has conducted 28,360 COVID-19 laboratory tests since the first case was confirmed about two months ago. Initially for the first few days, samples from Ethiopia were sent to South Africa for testing. Now, Ethiopia has about two dozens of laboratory testing facilities for COVID-19.
