The number of confirmed daily coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Ethiopia has increased 1,652, the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia said.
The 1,652 new cases are confirmed after testing 22,252 people in 24 hours, which double the number of people the country was testing in a day. The Ministry’s daily report also stated that 17 people have lost their lives by COVID-19 in 24 hours. The total number of people who lost their lives by the global pandemic in Ethiopia has now increased to 509. Currently 199 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, according to the report of the Ministry.
In Ethiopia so far over half a million people have taken laboratory test for coronavirus of which around 28,000 are confirmed positive including 1038 new cases the country reported on Saturday and the 1,652 on Sunday. Out of the total positive cases, over 16,000 are currently getting medical treatment, while the remaining have recovered.
